Recreation
There is an opportunity for you to plunge into the unique culture. You can have a close look at the Carpathian Hutsuls' way of living if you go on hike with the shepherds to the «Dovha» pasture (the native term for a scenic Carpathian sheep pasture is «polonyna»).
On the polonyna the shepherd («vivchar») will perform a play on the ancient national musical instrument called «trembita» (folk woodwind instrument presenting a wooden tube). The vivchar will treat you with national dishes like «banosh» (maize porridge with brynza prepared on the fire), «vurda» and «brynza» (types of sheep curds).
In January campers can get the chance to visit a real ritual scene, worldwide known as one of the few rites that have preserved their primeval state. It is named «Spravzhnia Hutsulska Koliada» (which literally means «the real hutsulian carol»). The ceremony combines an ancient pagan ritual with the Christian Christmas and its traditional carols, dances and food.
Mounted and pedestrian mountain-trips with experienced guides along the privy Carpathian paths.
Such trips will let you feel keenly the natural vigor and serenity of the mountains. You will admire virginal places with primeval giant trees and pure vivifying springs and rivers.
You will be able to explore numerous secluded spots in the mountains going on a short one-day hike as well as on a longer one, with the necessary equipment.
On top of the clouds — literally speaking — you will see boundless mountain scenery and understand the Hutsuls' respectful and loving attitude to the Carpathians.
In winter you will have the possibility to enjoy alpine skiing in Yaremche itself as well as on the mountain ski resort «Drahobrat».
